Huh, what?

Out to Sea

The channel into the harbor at Ft. Lauderdale is fairly narrow with a giant pile of rocks for the north breakwater, perfect for climbing on to watch the ships come and go. And while ships arrive and depart every day, Saturday evening is primetime for cruise ship departures.Sitting on the rocks starting around 5:00 pm, waiting for and watching the ships, is something of a ritual there. As a cruise ship passes, the rock dwellers stand and wave and yell to the passengers who are usually on deck watching the departure themselves. From the two high-rise condos nearby, there's more yelling plus sounds of air horn blasts from the balconies.
I only had time to stay for one departure, the Celebrity Solstice, but it was fun to take part in.
